CHELSEA STRIKER LINKED WITH SUMMER MLS MOVE

The summer transfer window is drawing nearer and it’s only normal for transfer rumors to fly around with more acceleration and intensity. Today’s transfer story covers a report of a possible move of Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud. It is almost certain that the French striker will be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer and there are a number of clubs that have registered an interest in signing him if he leaves the Blues.

Giroud has found playing time extremely hard to come by at Chelsea and is currently the third striker option at the club, behind Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham. Both Giroud and Abraham have been sidelined at the club and have fallen far down the pecking order at the club since the signing of Werner last summer and both of them will reportedly try to find new clubs in the summer.

While Abraham has been linked with a move to Everton, Giroud on the other hand is reportedly attracting interest from abroad. Some clubs in the United States Major League Soccer have shown interest in the former Arsenal star and will reportedly make a move for him to try and prise him with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Giroud almost left Chelsea last season and seemed Inter Milan-bound but former manager Frank Lampard did not sanction the move and he stayed back instead. Inter manager Antonio Conte admitted that he desired to sign the striker last summer but revealed that Chelsea were very reluctant to let him go and that there was nothing else he could do to convince the English club to sell.

Giroud will be hoping that he can still play a part in helping Chelsea win the two competition finals that they are currently in – the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup – before leaving the club.
