Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is already regarded as one of the best in the world. He has managed to win all the major trophies with Bayern Munich including the Champions league. However, one of the trophies that is absent from his trophy cabinet is the UEFA Super Cup. Bayern Munich will be competing in this competition for the first time since the arrival of Neuer. They will be taking on the Premier league outfit Chelsea, who was their opponents at the 2012 Champions league final. This match holds bad memories for Neuer because Bayern lost the match in the cruellest of circumstances.

Didier Drogba’s equaliser with only seconds left in the match led to the penalty shootout, which was ultimately won by Chelsea. Even though Bayern Munich have since gone on to win the Champions league in the subsequent season itself, Neuer is hoping for revenge against Chelsea when the two teams meet against each other in Prague. Not only did Bayern Munich win the Champions league last season, but they also lifted the Bundesliga and the German Super cup as well. They will be hoping to be even more successful this season with Guardiola at the helm.

The former Barcelona manager arrived at the club in the summer.

“It’s a unique chance for us players to win this trophy. It’s a final, and a match against the Europa League winners, and that’s Chelsea. We still have something to clear with them, and take revenge, so hopefully we can win. [Winning the UEFA Champions League] was very important. We would have had a very difficult time if we hadn’t done it. Last season we were very motivated, we wanted to finally achieve a lot of success and managed to win the treble, but we could have never lost the final against Dortmund,” said Neuer.
